Simplified Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients

  • ingredients for Red Velvet Cake
  • white Cake Mix
  • 1/4 c cocoa
  • 1 tb red food coloring
  • ingredients for Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 8 ozes cream cheese at room temperature
  • 1/2 c butter at room temperature
  • 3 cs confectioner 's sugar-sifted
  • 1 t vanilla

Directions

Directions for Red Velvet Cake
1. Add the cocoa to the dry cake mix and whisk to
incorporate.
2. Proceed with the cake package directions.
3. Add food coloring.
4. Bake according to the cake mix directions.
5. Let cool.
Directions for Cream Cheese Frosting
1. Beat cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy,
approximately 2 minutes.
2. Add sugar and vanilla and beat on low until it is ready
to spread.
3. If too soft, chill about 10 minutes before using.
